Custodian / Janitor

Responsible for keeping a building and its grounds clean, secure and orderly. Reports to Facility Manager.

Under general direction:
• Cleaning Facility. This will include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting/waxing surfaces (including furniture), washing windows, etc. All areas of the facility include Administration, Press Room and Production.
• Sanitizing: Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and cafeterias, keeping building free from indoor pests, etc.
• Trash removal: Collecting/Emptying trash and recycling bins
• Maintenance: Performing minor repairs and maintenance, such as replacing light fixtures (bulbs) or unclogging pipes, monitor heating/cooling/ventilation systems
• Security: Conducting routine security checks, locking doors and windows, and ensuring the facility is secure
• Vendors: Collaborating with contract cleaning services, exterminators, etc.
• Inventory: Maintaining a thorough inventory of cleaning supplies and ordering new supplies as needed
• Equipment: Using and maintaining equipment such as commercial vacuums, floor buffers, power washers, snow blowers, carpet cleaners, etc.
• Driving: Driving vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, such as company trucks/vans, etc.
• Reporting: Reporting and addressing minor maintenance issues and notifying managers regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems

All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
• High School diploma
• 1-3 year experience previous work experience in custodial position, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
• Must be able to use assorted equipment such as power washers, floor scrubbers, and assorted hand-tools.
• Lifting or physical demands - regularly lifting up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Equivalent pulling, pushing, carrying, shoveling or stretching,
• Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Demonstrate initiative and willingness to take on new work.
• Work independently and as a reliable and supportive team member.
